The Art Of Diplomacy
Rules For Fenizic Dplomats

The Does

  1. Even if there are immense differences, still find common features. Always implement the "we" principle.
  2. Show willingness to understand your partner's point of view - be it worlds away from ours.
  3. Be a patient listener but control the talk even if talking little.
  4. Overlook minor flaws generously, help in embarrassing situations and signal overall support.
  5. Take yourself back and thus enhance the status of your partner.

The Don'ts

Always avoid direct confrontation.

  1. Avoid demanding, the least imaginative method to achieve power.
  2. Avoid threatening, the most unpleasant method to show helplessness.
  3. Avoid reproaching, the simpliest method to work off aggravation.
  4. Avoid criticising, the most hurting method to articulate displeasure.

Instead, voice interest without provoking resistance: " I propose..."
